The Channel Tunnel
The Channel Tunnel a marvel engineering feet that runs a 52klm rail tunnel beneath the English Channel with about 39klm of the rail under the water , in the earth beneath the bottom of the sea .
Its English terminal is located at Folkestone in Kent and the French terminal at Sangatte, 3klm from Calais. The terminal leads directly onto the M20 Motorway in England and the A16 in France . There are two ways to use the Channel tunnel. Channel tunnel tickets are bought for Eurotunnel rail shuttles carry vehicles (passengers remain in their cars ) on specially constructed trains between Folkestone and Calais which takes approximately 35 minutes . Eurotunnel trains depart every 15-60 minutes according to commands or alternatively tail tickets can be bought for passengers without vehicles can board the Eurostar
Eurostar
Eurostar trains terminals at London or Ashford and disembark at Calais – Fre’thun ,Lille or Paris on the French side of the Channel, Eurostar Cruises at speeds of 300klm . The journey from London to Paris takes about Two and a half hours or to Lille, two hours . There are up to twenty four departures daily from London to Paris . There is also a special weekly Eurostar services direct to Disneyland Resort (Daily during school holidays ) and in winter two trains weekly from London direct to the Ski resorts of the French Alps . Pre – booking tickets is advised and often entails lower prices on tickets and fares

There are a number of ship or Catamaran crossings between the UK and Continental ports . P&O Ferries run between Dover and Calais with frequent departures which take about one and a half hours
.P&O also runs between Portsmouth and Le Havre (five and a half hours ) or Cherbourg five hours . The Channel Island specialists , Condor Ferries have a fast ferry from Poole to St Malo (four and a half hrs ) and also a ferry from Weymouth to St Malo , via Jersey . Brittany Ferries runs a nine hour service from Portsmouth to St –Malo , a six hour service from Portsmouth to Caen . and a six hour service from Plymouth to Roscoff. From Poole to Cherbourg , Brittany have a conventional ship (four and a quarter hrs )and a fast ferry , the Condor Vaitesse (two and a quarter hrs). Hover Speed use the Super Seacat high speed catamarans from Dover to Calais (forty five minutes ) and from Newhaven to Dieppe (two and a half hrs ). Transmanche Ferries also have a crossing from Newhaven to Dieppe (three and a quarter hrs ).

Taxis take 25-45 minutes to the city centre depending on traffic . Air france busses leave the airport terminals every 12 minutes and take about 30 minutes to central Paris (stops at Les Invalides and Montparnasse) The RATP Orly bus leaves every 13 minutes and takes about 25 minutes to reach the Denfert-Rochereau metro. The Jetbus service connects Orly to Villejuif-Louis Aragon metro and departs from the airport every 15 minutes . Suttle buses link the airport with RER line C at Pont de Rungis , from where trains leave every 15 minutes for Gare d’Austerlitz, a 25 minute journey
